The primary role of the Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant is to provide dedicated support to a high producing ($30M and above) Mortgage Loan Officer at First Interstate Bank.

Priorities include administrative and marketing support to ensure Regulatory / Compliance standards are met by the Mortgage Loan Officer and additional customer growth opportunities are realized. A successful Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant has current mortgage industry and/or product knowledge and is able to communicate in a timely and proficient manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist with interviewing loan applicants, data/loan application input, submission to various systems for credit and automated underwriting review, negotiates loan terms and conditions, compliant initial loan estimate disclosure and gathering of all necessary information to submit a complete loan package into loan processing.

  • Assist with calling customers to follow up and obtain all necessary information for loan submission to processing.

  • Assist with structuring of loans, calculation of income and review of income/asset documentation provided by the borrower.

  • Assist with processing and Pre-Qualification pipeline management for Mortgage Loan Officer.

  • Attend pipeline meetings.

  • Coordinating the Mortgage Loan Officer schedule.

  • May order appraisal, title and other pre-processing items.

  • Assist with marketing efforts including developing flyers (O.S.I. open house flyers etc.), managing leads in Mortgage Returns (Pre-Qualifications and Closed Loans), and scheduling/coordinating meetings with new, existing and prospective clients.

  • Ensures compliance to all applicable government regulations and keeps up-to-date on all changes in real estate regulations and lending requirements.

EDUCATION &/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and six or more months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and/or REGISTRATIONS

This position requires compliance with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and all related regulations. Employment is contingent upon meeting all such requirements, including acceptable background investigation results

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS

As a condition of employment, any successful job applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment screening against the Limited Denial of Participation (LDP), GSA Excluded Party List System (EPLS) and Freddie Mac Exclusionary List.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries of complaints of customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to inspect property taken as collateral, including properties under construction and ability to negotiate through/around construction work zones, climb a ladder or steps, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
