Vacutech LLC, the largest private employer in Sheridan, Wyoming, is seeking a Safety Coordinator to join our expanding team. This position is responsible for the oversight of the Company's safety program. The Safety Coordinator is to administer and maintain a comprehensive health and safety management system. Must oversee a comprehensive program in such a way as to maintain the lowest possible rate of injuries and incidents. Proactively administers and drives the OSHA safety compliance program, in addition to EPA and other governmental compliance programs.

The essential functions of the Safety Coordinator include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for developing materials on required safety records, audits and inspections, and training managers on how to conduct, maintain, track and report them.
  • Responsible for developing required safety training for all positions. This will include maintaining a training matrix of topics to train new hires, annually, and as needed such as incident investigation, safety inspections, lockout/tagout, hot work, JSAs, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safety manual for new hires and current employees to utilize as a resource;
  • Works closely with leaders of field operations to ensure Vacutech maintains a safe workplace for all employees.
  • Spending time on the manufacturing floor to gain full insight into hazards of the jobs is required;
  • Oversee safety committee procedures and determine how to increase participation, documentation and value of monthly meetings (monthly agenda: review incidents and near misses, monthly training topic, etc.)
  • Routinely meets with Human Resources Business Partner to discuss/review objectives and plans associated with improving our field safety program, policies, procedures and processes. Meets with the Director of Manufacturing routinely for updates on significant problems, progress and/or difficulties.
  • Resolves most questions involving safety, including some where only limited standardization exists. Confers with Corporate on more complex issues to ensure consistency;
  • Assists front-line managers and leads with investigations and preparation of reports of all incidents/ injuries, or health and safety related conditions;
  • Oversees safety meetings on a regular basis and makes safety presentations as required;
  • Ensures safety notices and signs are posted as required;
  • Conducts surveys of all safety equipment and makes recommendations for the improvement of the same where appropriate.

  • Routinely meets with NCS Director of Safety & Compliance to discuss/review objectives, strategies, and plans associated with safety improvements, safety issues, and safety results.
  • Ensure appropriate disposition of all waste material.
  • Function as point of contact for chemical inventory and waste management processes.
  • Responsible for all facility Environmental permitting/compliance activities.

  • Maintain required Environmental recordkeeping and reporting processes.

Performance Standards And Physical Requirements:

  • Comply with company rules, policies, and decisions.
  • Perform the responsibilities of the position at a satisfactory level of efficiency.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of employee, department, and company business.
  • Infrequently, will be required to travel, primarily locally (Less than 10%).
  • May sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop or kneel.
  • Occasionally lift or move items of light to medium weights, up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently required to talk or hear; noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • At least two (2) or more years of experience in safety sensitive position, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing based environment.
  • OSHA certifications preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR certifications preferred or able to be obtained within 6 months.
  • Must have excellent employee relations and process management skills.
