JOB SUMMARY

This position assists staff and remote locations with technical support of desktop computers, applications, and related technology. Support includes specifications, installation, and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established guidelines. Employee will also assist in the maintenance and testing of network servers, and associated equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Specific skills and tools used for this category: Desktop and workstation support, PC hardware and software troubleshooting, ITIL or HDI certifications, hardware/software installation, remote maintenance tools, first and second level technical support, may include low-to-mid level network and application administration functions.
  • Under general supervision, performs a variety of computer systems administration and support tasks, including analyzing, constructing, documenting, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting and supporting of PC hardware, operating systems, software applications, peripherals, and communication devices for the entire organization.
  • Performs a variety of project tasks and requires good communications skills with the ability to work with users diplomatically and skillfully.
  • Typically requires high school education supplemented by other technical training in a related field and 0 - 2 years desktop and technical support experience.
  • Assist staff with the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment, and software.
  • Works with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software.
  • Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated validation systems, file servers, email servers, computer conferencing systems, application servers and administrative systems.
  • Managing and maintaining Microsoft Office products, other desktop software, and assisting with telephone / fax systems.
  • Works with Help Desk and Network Operations staff as appropriate to determine and resolve problems received from users.
  • Works with procurement staff to purchase hardware and software.
  • Assesses functional needs to determine specifications for purchases
  • Orders computer supplies
  • Other duties as required

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education / Experience / License and Certifications

  • 2 years of experience supporting XP Professional, Vista Business, Windows 7, Office 2003 - Office 2010 desktop/laptop PCs
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware issues and replacing hardware on both
  • desktop and laptop PCs
  • Experience installing software, patches, updates on Desktops, Laptops, Servers
  • Experience troubleshooting basic network, software, printing problems

Qualifications: The ideal candidate would require the following qualifications:

  • A+ or MCSE
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
  • Customer Service Experience a must

Additional Skills

  • Ability to communicate in English; both verbally and in writing
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access expected
  • Efficient use of MHSC help desk application is required
