ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Exercises supervisory responsibility for daily Group Living Operations.

2. Serves as the site RAC in the absence of the Program Director, and Directors of Group Living/Student

Services.

3. Oversees and monitors the facility and daily schedules to ensure all students and staff are in compliance and on time for all program elements.

4. Monitors and supervises site operations throughout the day to ensure safety and security of staff and students and proper supervision is maintained. Including but not limited to:

a. AM and PM Programs.

b. Dining room.

c. Units (inspection ready checks).

d. Outside student movements.

e. Proper staffing of classrooms; including vocations.

f. Sports practices, 3 mile runs, 18 x 20s.

g. Concerns (site specific) and/or IOT to support safety and security.

h. Student meetings.

i. Security of buildings.

j. Log entries and safe operations.

k. PREA and Incident Reporting.

5. Ensures proper student/staff ratio compliance.

6. Oversees cost control relating to overtime, supplies, and/or staffing.

7. Oversees logistics for and assists with facilitating all extra-curricular and community service activities, off- site travel and student transportation, if applicable.

8. Oversees weekend student visits to ensure Rite of Passage policies and procedures are maintained.

9. Assists with Pre-Service Training when necessary and provides on-going training related to operational or student issues when needed.

10. Leads monthly fire drills and documents for auditing purposes. (Site specific).

11. Ensures proper safe physical management techniques are followed at all times and assists other staff with emergency situations.

a. Supports all de-escalation issues with staff and students.

b. Ensures restraint documentation is correctly written and submitted to the appropriate parties.

c. Ensures debriefing is complete with any student and/or staff involved in physical intervention.

12. Provides management and leadership knowledge, skills and abilities to supervised staff and all other staff.

a. Supervised Staff: Manages, hires, trains, develops, approves time and attendance, evaluates, disciplines, and investigates issues relating to violations of safety, violation of Policies and Procedures, conduct, ethics and ROP norms and culture (as a minimum).

13. Designates staff to support other departments such as Education, Medical, Food Service, etc.

14. Maintains an inventory of clothing and hygiene products; makes purchases as necessary (Site Specific).

15. Performs duties of the medical staff in their absence including student medication distribution (Site

Specific).

16. Completes required reports and documentation in a timely manner, provides management with required reports and advises of any problematic situations. Examples of reports: Monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPI), weekly report for Site Management review.

17. Complies with and implements the Rite of Passage Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals/handbooks.

18. Ensures all ROPSTAT entries are accurate and entered in timely manner.

19. Ensures the highest standards are maintained to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct and to ensure the program remains in compliance with agency licensing and Rite of Passage policies and procedures. Provides input and submits proposals for the revision of existing and/or new policies and procedures.

20. Assists with and presents proposals to correct identified deficiencies and quality improvement efforts.

21. Attends all required meetings. Depending on location, meetings may include but are not limited to weekly Site Management meeting, Shift Change (Chairperson), Group Leader meetings (facilitates), site-wide meetings and Cabinet meetings.

22. Commits to attending and tracking all training and staff development classes in order to ensure sufficient hours of training for this position and all supervised staff are completed on an annual basis. Notifies the Supervisor if annual training hours are deficient.

23. Participate in at least 50% of the daily physical activities required of the students.

24. Provides encouragement, guidance and resources to the staff and students.

25. Models and ensures all program norms are upheld without compromise.

26. Acts as a positive role model and mentor for both staff and students.

27. Treats others with respect, confronts negative behavior and supports confrontation.

28. Other duties as assigned, verbally or in written form.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Participates in Site, Region and/or Company community events as required.

2. Participates as a member of the Immediate Action Team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Public/Business Administration, Behavior Science, Counseling, Secondary Education, Health, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Social/Human Services OR any equivalent combination numbers of years’ experience, education and/or training that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Military experience and training is acceptable.

2. Three (3) years of experience in a juvenile treatment (Residential, Behavioral, Dentition, Corrections, etc.) Related and/or equivalent experience may be substituted with approval.

3. One (1) year supervisory experience.

4. Current Staff in this position must have completed Tech 22 and ROP Essential Subjects Training in Operations, Treatment and Human Resources. Outside applicant selected must complete this same training within 6 months of hire date.

5. Must meet all individual state specific licensing requirements in addition to ROP requirements regarding education and experience.

6. Supervisory experience preferred.

7. For sites operating in Maryland, all direct-care staff must comply with COMAR 14.31.06.06.

8. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple people and projects.

9. Good interpersonal skills including the ability to interview potential employees if required.

10. Must meet the requirements to be an eligible ROP driver. Must possess a current State Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years.

11. Strong knowledge of overall company operations and policies and procedures.

12. Ability to pass a criminal background clearance check, drug screen, physical and TB test.

13. Ability to perform work with little or no supervision.

14. Ability to utilize resources available to complete assigned projects.

15. Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.

16. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

17. Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing.

18. Able to work in excess of 40 hours per week with the possibility of a varied schedule.

19. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

20. Must have excellent organization and time management skill

21. Ability to build and maintain positive internal and external relationships.

22. Ability to provide exemplary customer service to all employees and outside constituents.

23. Ability to function independently and as a member of a team in a multi-task environment.

24. Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and rapidly changing business conditions.

25. Proficient in the use of computers and associated software.
