Job Summary:

Core responsibilities of this position include:

The Development Officer, Event Coordinator position is a full-time, benefited position for the LCCC Foundation and has the primary responsibility to engage in donor relations with individuals, businesses, corporations and foundations, etc. All LCCC Foundation development officers should be prepared to work comprehensively with donors to address their needs and interests. Each development officer has an area of focus. The primary focus for this position is community relations and event coordination. This development officer will have the responsibility to coordinate the cultural committee and cultural series event planning, assist with the coordination and preparation of foundation events, and working with appropriate campus personnel on campus-wide event planning, which includes events such as college anniversary celebrations, naming events, WACCT, etc. This position also assists in the development of written Foundation materials and publications required for the Foundation’s community awareness efforts and specific fund-raising projects. This position is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding individuals, alumni and renewal gifts; and developing strategies and approaches to generate routine giving. The development officer is actively engaged in working to establish long-term partnerships and strengthening existing relationships with Alumni and general community that will result in funding for the immediate and long-term goals of the Foundation and College.

Compensation: This a Professional 3 position. Starting Salary: $45,792-$52,661.

Essential Functions:

Leadership and Oversight – This position is charged with development and implementation of a comprehensive and proactive plan focused on expanding and enhancing the Scholarship and Annual Giving program.

  • Research, analyze, identify and develop systems and relationships within the local and regional area to build, cultivate and sustain practices that support the mission and goals of the College and Foundation
  • Strategically develop, organize, and lead programs which are designed to identify, track, communicate with, serve, and involve our campus and Cheyenne community in the mission of LCCC

  • Develop and implement community engagement activities

  • Assist Foundation staff on the implementation and execution of Foundation events

  • Work with the Cultural Committee (LCCC faculty/staff) to develop programs that will bring cultural presentations to LCCC and the Cheyenne community. This includes managing the logistics of holding 3-4 events each semester that are funded through the Cultural and Community Enrichment Series

  • Contract venues (for both on-campus and off-campus events)

  • Contact and establish contracts with guest artists/authors/presenters

  • Meet contractual needs (tech riders) of guests

  • Arrange for guest accommodations (hotel, meals and ground transportation), food and beverage, supplies and audio-visual equipment

  • Work with the Public Relations team to plan and implement campus-wide events which include events such as college anniversary celebrations, naming events, WACCT, etc.

  • Work with appropriate campus contacts to provide support in the planning of campus-wide events such as annual picnics, holiday celebration, etc.

  • Maintain event budgets
  • Communicate with event or cultural fund donors/sponsors

  • Develop a marketing plan and distribute marketing materials for cultural and community events

  • Attend Cultural Committee meetings and cultural events

  • Communicate with campus community regarding events

  • Organize event receptions or Cultural and Community Enrichment Series donor events when necessary

  • Develop and manage a coordinated effort of communication and solicitation strategies involving email, direct mail, phone/mail, personal visitation and volunteer engagement, all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support

  • Work with the foundation staff on the creation and execution of a plan for supplemental external funding of the college through state and federal grants, private foundations, prospect research, planned giving and annual giving

  • Take an active role in assisting the Foundation Team in achieving identified development goals and priorities, through donor relations, fundraising and stewardship

Functional Department Duties - Responsibility to inform the AVPIA, foundation board committees, and staff on corporate and foundation fundraising priorities.

  • Interpret foundation interests to college constituencies

  • Work directly with the Foundation Team, College Staff, and the community to develop approaches to initiate individual, annual and reoccurring fundraising processes

  • Maintain a schedule of contacts and records for individual and reoccurring donors

  • Assist with and attend Foundation and College events

  • Attend community events and functions to promote the foundation and college

  • Maintain accurate records including use of a Foundation credit card and maintain receipts

  • Obtain approvals from the AVPIA for event costs or expenditures exceeding the established routine thresholds

  • Collaborate with foundation staff and other departments in completing necessary forms, documentation, and reporting to support compliance with foundation and college policies and procedures; and regulatory requirements

Institutional Leadership - Serve as a member of the Foundation Staff of LCCC and works in full partnership with other members of the Public Relations Team, as well as other departments. This functional tasking area may include:

  • Attend foundation board meetings, working closely with the AVPIA to develop, implement and foster support for the strategic directions of the Board and of the college while ensuring positive and interpersonal relationships central to the importance of the campus community

  • Attend Foundation Board development committee meetings, providing reports on donor engagement, community engagement and other projects

  • Works effectively with internal constituencies to foster collaboration and engagement between the campus and the broader community; collaborates efforts to articulate the identity of LCCC by publicizing the strength of programs and services of LCCC and encourages others in community service appropriate to the mission of the college

  • Promotes and strengthens communication bridges, shares information broadly, and facilitates communication among others

Nonessential Functions:

An employee in this position may perform some of these responsibilities on an infrequent basis.

  • Work with AVPIA to develop written Foundation materials and publications required for the Foundation’s community awareness efforts and specific fund-raising projects

  • Work with Foundation staff as needed on special events

  • Assist in the design and implementation of department best demonstrated practices, workflows, and align with current or emerging community, college, or department needs, as appropriate

  • Advise and provide guidance to general department inquiries

  • Assist the College in local, state, regional, or national projects and programs, board, committees or groups when appropriate

  • As required attend college, division, and program trainings/meetings. Overnight travel may be required

  • Provides Collegial assistance and mentoring for new employees as related to department functions and area responsibilities

  • Ability to read and interpret instructions in oral, written, or diagrammatical form (e.g., a flow chart of a process). Ability to read, interpret and consider possible applications of business literature and legal documents

Able to handle expeditiously, accurately, and confidentially the rapid receipt of communications from all sources—(written, email, voice mail, one-on-one) with attention to detail. Able to act on own initiative while exercising reasonable judgment

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution

  • Five years of working experience in a professional environment

  • Two years of experience in marketing, sales, or related experience

  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to be insured by the College’s insurance provider

Preferred:

  • Two years of experience in donor development and/or developing project level strategic plans and establishing successful business relationships in the Cheyenne and/or Laramie County area (e.g. marketing, sales, lobbying, not-for profit work, etc.)

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Marketing, Business, or a related field of study
