FIVE STAR PLASTICS INC, is a leader in rapid prototyping, tooling, and manufacturer of high quality injection molded products. Five Star Plastics, Inc. currently has openings at our Product Development Facility in Eau Claire, WI for:

First Article Inspector

Summary:

Perform first article inspections per customer requirements to assure products meet customer expectations. Provide guidance to molding operators to assure customer expectations are met.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Verify acceptable product at start up

Monitor product during entire production for compliance

Instruct operators to changing conditions or expectations

Instruct operators on proper methods and procedures

Verify all visual and dimensional inspections are in accordance with inspection plan

Assure all paperwork is completed on each job

Maintain order of files and records

Create certification of compliance forms

Work toward fostering a team environment

Conduct first article inspections as required from customer specific dimensions to full part layout

Prepare PPAP documents based on AIAG standards or customer requirement

Prepare FAI reports based on customer requirements

Any other duties as required by manager

Maintain Quality Management System compliance.

Qualification Requirements:

Reading and interpreting specifications and prints.

Ability to understand and apply GD&T principles and methods of inspection

Utilizing and reading of both digital and dial inspection equipment.

Identify standard quality equipment i.e. gage blocks, plug gages, etc.

Demonstrate basic trade math skills.

Basic Statistical Process Control (SPC) - desirable

Operate Optical Comparator - desirable

Operate CMM - desirable

Operate Vision System - desirable

Understanding of ISO9001:2015 and / or AS9100D QMS - desirable

Ability to perform GR&R and capability Studies - desirable

Operate digital camera and produce work instructions using Microsoft office tools.

Education: High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the hiring manager.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Convert back and forth between English and Metric.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Skills and Abilities:

ASQ certification desirable

Visual: Ability to distinguish between colors and hues.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to talk or hear. Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Work Environment

Frequently works near moving mechanical parts. Employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

Noise level is that of a manufacturing environment and is usually loud. Hearing protection is required in designated areas according to governmental standards.
