The Department provides a full range of programs and services for a population of approximately 100,000 in beautiful western Wisconsin. This position is responsible for leadership and management of the Environmental Health Regulation & Licensing Division, one of eight divisions in the Department. This Division is focused on assuring safe and healthy regulated entities through regular inspection, education, and response. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills and a passion for public service to make a difference in the community!
This position reports to the Assistant Director and primary duties include:
Providing leadership to division staff to assure high achieving programs related to Regulation & Licensing.
Assuring effective and efficient management of programs and services as delegated DATCP/DSPS Agents, including those related to food protection, body art, lodging, public pools and others.
Assuring effective and efficient management of the local health focused housing inspection program.
Planning, administering and evaluating the various services of the Regulation & Licensing Division.
Providing leadership in community collaboration and academic partnership.
Assuring communication on key community health and organizational issues.
Preparing for and responding to public health emergencies.
Your minimum qualifications must include:
1. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Health, Biology, Chemistry, Public Health or related field. Masters preferred.
2. Current registration or eligible for reciprocity as an REHS/RS under Wisconsin Administrative Rule.
3. At least 3 years relevant work experience or a masters degree and at least two years relevant work experience.
4. Preparation in the principles of supervision is desirable. Successful supervisory experience is preferred.
5. At least one year of program management experience required. Budget management experience preferred.
6. Experience in community collaborative efforts preferred.
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
This full-time position has a competitive salary starting at $34.75 per hour. We also offer an excellent benefits package consisting of health, dental and life insurance, matched contributions into a retirement fund, paid holidays, and generous vacation and personal leave.
