Position Description

SUMMARY:

Responsible for planning, scheduling and developing interactive activities to mentor and foster positive actions for youth aimed at reducing juvenile delinquency, drug abuse, victimization, truancy and other high-risk behaviors within the parameters of the OJJDP mentoring Opportunities for Youth Initiative.

ESSENTAIL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Leadership -

Establish Unit programs respective to the OJJDP mentoring Opportunities for Youth Initiative with the approval of the Director of Operations, activities and services that prepare youth for success and that create a club in environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.

Provide guidance to Unit Directors and monitor the implementation and mentoring practices of each Club site.

Strategic Planning

Plan, develop, implement and evaluate Units overall programs, services and activities to ensure they meet states objectives and member needs and interests. Compile regular reports reflecting case management, attendance and participation in the OJJDP Mentoring Opportunities for Youth Initiatives Program.

Partnership Development

Develop collaborative partnerships with other youth serving organizations, members, parents, families and community organizations.

Marketing and Public Relations

Develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services, and activities within the Club environment.

Business Acumen

Work with Director of Operations and Business Manager to get approval and purchase supplies and equipment. Work with staff and volunteers on program development and service delivery to carry out the mentoring program.

Assume other duties as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal:

Maintains close contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Has regular contact with members as needed to advise, and counsel.

External:

Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize Club.

REQUIED EDUCATION & EXPEREINCE:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or a combination of education and experience in youth development. A minimum of two years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience. Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management and the training and mentoring of key personnel. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to train, supervise, and motivate staff.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has overall supervisory responsibility for assigned youth and family members.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a non-clinical camp setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations throughout the camp and facility.
