CIVIL DRAFTING TECHNICIAN
Job Summary
Pacific Engineering & Design is seeking a full-time drafting technician to join our firm and support our civil engineering team. We are looking for a motivated individual that can work with minimal supervision to support projects at every stage from base-map processing, design development, plan set preparation, periodic revisions and final as-built drawings. Those who have an interest and willingness to utilize the full suite of Autodesk products including Civil 3D are highly encouraged to apply. Markets we serve range from land development, commercial and industrial site design, to environmental and municipal projects. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, thorough, well organized and can effectively manage time.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Working knowledge of CAD and drafting techniques, standards and software (Autodesk Civil 3D).
Preferred Qualifications
Technical or Associates degree
Experience in the civil/structural field
Autodesk certification and/or additional applicable training
2+ years relevant experience

Job Duties/Responsibilities
Work on multidisciplinary project teams
Interpret rough sketches and verbal clarifications from engineers
Apply current standards and adhere to company policies
Collect, assemble and process data and information needed for preparing drawings
Prepare maps and sketches from legal descriptions, survey notes and plats
Prepare construction/scale drawings, blueprints, topographic maps and plan, profile, cross section, or as-built drawings of civil projects (grading, drainage, roadways and utilities)
Assist engineers with design development process as needed, and provide general technical support to engineers

Excellent knowledge about drawing software (Autodesk Civil3d)
Good observation skills and recallability
Ability to follow prescribed directions
Ability to adapt to changing directions and project conditions
Sound knowledge of engineering design principles and industry standards
Good numeracy and computer skills
Independence and problem-solving skills
Ability to work as part of a team and defer to judgement of supervisors
Ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines
