The Purchasing Manager is directly responsible for the management of the supply chain for all vendors supplying parts and services used to create Frencken America products. Leading the purchasing team to evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and review the quality of products. Resolves shipments in error/cost discrepancies with suppliers. Works directly with production planning to ensure accurate and timely delivery of goods. Works closely with senior management to ensure company objectives are consistently being met.
Key Requirements
Experience working with ERP, MRP, PDM software packages
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with continuously changing priorities
Experience reading detailed mechanical drawings, schematics, and bills of materials (BOM), as well as written or verbal instructions
Applicable knowledge of negotiating prices, terms and conditions
Proficiency using Microsoft Office products with advanced Excel skills
Background in or knowledge of machine shops and ISO quality-controlled manufacturing processes
Experience leading the inventory planning, procurement, sourcing activities and ability to develop strategies to deliver sustainable results
Proven track record of managing procurement and inventory planning while delivering continual improvements in cost savings.
Knowledge and experience with best practices in inventory and materials management (e.g., Safety Stock, LEAN, JIT, Consignment, etc.)
Demonstrated problem solving, time-management, customer service, negotiation, interpersonal, decision making, leadership, organization, and communication skills
Responsibilities
Management of parts procurement from quoting, ordering and status monitoring through receipt
Review MRP daily to identify current material requirements for specific and forecasted orders
Manage the continuous improvement of the supply chains costs, quality, sustainability and departmental processes
Optimization of inventory levels through purchasing best practices
Oversee the identification, development and management of effective relationships with existing and potential suppliers of goods and services to meet cost, quality and delivery targets
Create and analyze data generated reports to track performance and efficiency of purchasing, inventory control and order processing
Manage scheduling for purchasing staff
Along with HR, conduct the interview and hiring process of purchasing staff.
Conduct performance evaluations of direct reports
Preferred
Experience managing purchasing/materials departments
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience within Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement and Distribution in a leadership role
