Job Description:
As a dental assistant with Stein Family Dentistry you will support dental care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, patients, instruments, and materials; passing instruments and materials; performing procedures in compliance with the dental practice act.
Processes Responsible For:
Assist dentist/hygienist chairside
Setup and take down doctor and hygiene rooms
Perform pediatric cleanings
Inform patients of treatment procedures and materials
Taking dental radiographs (x-rays)
Ask about the patient's medical history and take blood pressure and pulse
Serve as an infection control officer, develop infection control protocol and prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment
Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment
Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling)
Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health;
(e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling)
Take impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth)
Maintain patient appearance and ability to masticate by fabricating temporary restorations
Help dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining cpr certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory
Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
Perform clinical office opening and/or closing duties
Ensure operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs;
Maintain cleanliness of clinical and back office areas
Maintain inventory and order clinical supplies
Assist in scheduling patients when capable
Work with the nicest, laid back, fun loving dentist around
