Jewish Family Service is seeking an Outreach and Education Assistant for a full-time (37.5 hours/week) position. The position is located at the JFS Seattle office. This integral member of the Outreach and Education (O&E) team provides administrative and organizational support to ensure efficient departmental operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide administrative support to the Outreach & Education department which includes Volunteer Services and Education programming and events.
  • Enhance department operations and efficiency by maintaining tracking documentation and creating tools to enhance communication across the department and with other JFS programs.
  • Assist in the recruiting, screening, interviewing and training of new volunteers.
  • Maintain volunteer records and complete volunteer background checks, reference calls.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely data entry into Raiser’s Edge and working with Data Services to synthesize end-of-year data.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with all departments of JFS volunteers to collect volunteer data, help fulfill program volunteer requests and collaborate on projects.
  • Work with the Director of Volunteer Services to coordinate group volunteering opportunities.
  • Manage Centerpiece Basket fundraising program including processing orders and coordinating basket deliveries.
  • Provide essential support for quarterly volunteer events including the Holiday Gift Basket program with record keeping, community outreach and other administrative needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree with a minimum of two years administrative and/or database/data entry experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office, databases and online tools including Mail Chimp, Survey Monkey and project management software. Prior experience with Raiser’s Edge is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a positive, customer-service attitude towards all staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent communication (written & oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving, organizational and time-management skills.
  • Must be flexible and willing to adapt to work flow priority changes.
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or event planning is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Judaism and local Jewish community and prior non-profit experience are pluses.
