Join our team of pet lovers who dedicate our lives to the health and happiness of our dog and cat patients as a full time kennel assistant at Eastside Veterinary Associates!

Veterinary kennel assistants are responsible for the day-to-day care and enrichment of patients and boarders.

This includes feeding, watering, cleaning, walking, bathing, and monitoring the well being of dogs, cats and, occasionally, other companion animals. Kennel assistants must have sufficient physical strength, mobility, and stamina to lift and/or move heavy pets and objects, the dexterity and confidence to administer medications, and the ability to monitor pets for signs of distress or disease. It is essential that they have the ability and willingness to learn and the desire to provide gentle, compassionate care for boarded and hospitalized pets.

Previous experience is preferred, but we are willing to train.

Weekday, Weekend, and Holiday hours are required.

This is a full time position.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Walk and play with all dogs.

Recognizes emergency situations, enlisting the aid of doctors and veterinary technicians.

Marks charts correctly for eating, drinking, fecal and urine production.

Feeds and waters animals according to schedules.

Cleans and disinfects cages, runs and yards, as needed.

Cleans cat litter boxes.

Cleans and disinfects all food and water bowls.

Picks up soiled bedding and moves it to laundry area.

Places clean bedding in run with animals.

Operates washer and dryer to clean kennel bedding and hospital laundry.

Administers medications to those animals that require medications while they are boarding.

Records and labels all belongings.

Records medication instructions on the kennel medication board.

Restrains animals, as needed.

Maintains equipment.

Provides friendly interaction with clients and animals.

Ensures customer satisfaction.

Maintains cleanliness of entire hospital.
