Director of Engagement

Washington, Porttownsend 00000 Porttownsend USA

Vacancy caducado!

Habitat for Humanity of East Jefferson County seeks to hire a full-time development professional who is passionate about engaging donors. If you thrive on helping people experience the joy that comes from investing resources in other people’s futures, then we want to talk with you.

The Director of Engagement steps into a new position with significant assets at their disposal, including a community that is dedicated to solving its affordable housing crisis and an organization with a demonstrated record of delivering housing solutions. And, although the Director of Engagement is a “one person shop,” they will not be left to go it alone, since Habitat’s board of directors and executive director are committed to partnering in fundraising.

The goals are ambitious. Habitat expects to double the number of families served over the next five years, which will require corresponding growth in philanthropy. The Director of Engagement will lead Habitat through the next stages of its fundraising efforts, focusing on continued growth of major giving while developing the broad base of the annual fund.

Background

Port Townsend and eastern Jefferson County are picturesque, lying in the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains, only a little more than two hours from Seattle. The area attracts an abundance of retirees and tourists, which drives up housing prices and puts much of the housing stock out of reach of service workers and young families. Indeed, Jefferson County is one of the least affordable counties for housing in Washington State.

Fortunately, the area attracts many socially responsible and engaged residents who resonate with Habitat for Humanity’s mission, donating and volunteering at much higher rates than in most similarly sized communities across the U.S. Although few local corporate and foundation resources exist in this rural area, many individuals possess high capacity.

During the past four years Habitat has operated without a full-time development professional, but has seen philanthropic investment more than double as a result of focused efforts by the executive director and board. We utilize a donor-centered model that values personal relationships and a culture of gratitude.

Now we are ready to add a full-time development professional to lead our fundraising efforts and take them to the next level. The Director of Engagement steps into the position with the full support and readiness of the board and executive director to continue and deepen their engagement with donors. We seek a seasoned professional with excellent relational and organizational skills, who is ready to help Habitat engage donors in solving the increasing challenges of affordable housing in East Jefferson County.
