Port Townsend Paper Corporation produces Kraft pulp, paper, containerboard, and specialty products by blending virgin and recycled fibers at our mill headquarters in Port Townsend, Washington. We currently have an opening for a permanent, full time Technical Services Manager to join our team.

Job responsibilities for this position:

Work directly with customers with complaints, technical questions, visits, tours, quality audits.

Support with new product and grade development.

Coordinate competitive analysis, grade enquiries and project such as the grade mix team.

Run complaint investigations, creating new tags, modify tags, switchboard updates, data mining, etc.

Lead Quality Team with projects such as the OCC Quality Team and Olympic 15 fiber properties.

Lean Six Sigma Projects (Green Belt) – sizing improvement

Production, furnish and chemical budget and forecasting.

Production tracking, maintenance of production records, and summarization of data for daily, monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting and presentations.

Creation of customer test certifications

Maintenance, calibrations and collaborative testing, including plan of purchases relating to paper machine test equipment.

Maintenance of sample inventory and sample order fulfillment

Testing of raw materials such as incoming chips and hog fuel;

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and requirements for this position:

A minimum of Bachelor of Science in Pulp & Paper, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.

10-12 years in pulp and paper manufacturing or equivalent. Supervisory and team facilitation experience necessary.

Must be proficient in pulp and paper processes, chemical engineering skills, analytical techniques and statistical mathematics.

Working knowledge of applicable environmental regulations.

Demonstrated skills in project management, permit negotiations, and public relations.

Organize and present technical data in a clear and concise form – both written and verbal.

Cope with potentially stressful situations, maintain professional workplace conduct.

Write and compose meticulous technical reports with critical timeliness.

Supervise and coordinate daily team activities
