As a Community Support Specialist (CSS), you will work with US military veterans who suffer with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) to develop plans geared towards achieving their individual goals. A CSS assists clients in functional skill building and everyday problem solving. These services may include development and implementation of strategies to address household management, meal preparation, budgeting, scheduling, vocational/volunteer exploration, cognitive skill training, health and wellness.

The Ideal Candidate:

Would you consider yourself an aficionado the great outdoors, hunting and fishing? These are things our client would really like to get back into, but would need your support to do so. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will have compassion and an understanding of the complex lifelong needs of persons with brain injury and the challenges they face.

Job Type: $21Hr. / 45 hours per month. Sessions are typically scheduled on weekdays.

Location: Cosmopolis, WA

Responsibilities Include:

· Assisting the client in acquiring, retaining and improving skills necessary to reside as independently as possible at home (e.g. household chores and organization, meal planning/prep or shopping, etc.)

· Providing functional support as needed (e.g. assist with cognitive/memory strategies - reading, puzzles, cards, organizational tools; creative activities - music, art, painting)

· Participating in community-based recreation/leisure activity of client’s interest

· Transporting your client to a variety of community-based events

· Develop ways to increase client’s social capital as evidenced by community engagement with others/organizations

· Documenting sessions using an activity log

Preferred Experience:

· Working with individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and PTDS

· Behavioral health and/or recreational therapy
