The Aslan kitchen is beginning to gear up for summer and we're currently looking for a few skilled line cooks to join the crew.
What Were Looking For:
- 1 Line Cook with a minimum of one year experience
- 1 Prep Cook with a minimum of one year experience
- Open availability: To start, our training program requires you to float from station to station until each position has been perfected. You also must be able to close and work weekends. After this, your schedule will be worked around the needs of the business as well as what works best for you. Our shifts for full time are generally 10 hours a day, 4 days a week. This means 3 days off!
- Punctuality: Show up on time, ready to work.
- Station experience: Being able to hop on the line and, after a few weeks, work expo, garde manger, grill/fry, and flattop/saute efficiently is a huge plus.
- Work ethic: Aslan, nearly year round, is very high volume. With this, our crew excels in multi-tasking, moving with a sense of urgency, providing a clean and sanitized workstation, upholding our food standards, and maintaining an upbeat attitude during stressful hours.
- Local first: Our kitchen, during the height of the season, works with local farms and purveyors to provide nearly 75% of our produce from Whatcom, Skagit, and surrounding counties. We take pride in this, and hope you do to.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- At least one year of high volume restaurant experience in the prep room or on line.
- Basic knife skills and excellent sanitation practices.
- The ability to work well with a crew of 35+ BOH members.
- General knowledge of soups, sauces, protein fabrication, and other kitchen practices.
- Ability to provide documentation of a Food Handlers Card within 30 days of hire.
