Description
Whatcom Community College invites applications for a Fiscal Specialist 1 (Class Code 151E) position in the College's Business Office. This recruitment is open to all qualified applicants. Reporting to the Director for Business and Finance, this is a full-time, classified staff position.
Job Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
-Perform work functions related to accounting, financial reporting, and other fiscal review and analysis;
-Administer the College's tuition payment plan program, including recommending dates for enrollment and payment options offered; reconciling student accounts, calculating adjustments, and processing payments and refunds;
-Support students by maintaining tables related to tuition and fees:
-Provides customer service to internal and external customers, listening attentively, identifying issues, providing options and solutions in order to fulfill services, and/or exercising knowledge of laws and regulations to assist others and/or resolve complaints or conflicts;
-Follow applicable fiscal guidelines, regulations, principles and standards to satisfy work responsibilities;
-Use computer hardware and software to produce timely and accurate work projects that fully satisfy the demands of assignments;
-Provide support for purchasing, procurement and cashiering as needed;
-Assist in the conversion from current technology platform and financial management system (FMS) to ctcLink (PeopleSoft);
-Fulfill job responsibilities by attending work consistently and on-time;
-Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the College's needs.
Qualifications, Salary and Appointment
Minimum Qualifications:
-Associates Degree, AND 15 quarter hours or 10 semester hours of college-level accounting or bookkeeping, AND three years of fiscal experience. Equivalent education/experience can substitute year for year for required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
-Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
-Experience in governmental accounting.
-Experience in a community college or technical college system, specifically in a business office or financial-related position.
Salary and Working Conditions:
-Range 40, full-time salary starting at $3,052 per month with periodic increments to $3,964 per month. Position's shift is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8 am-5 pm. Indoor office environment with many interruptions and deadlines. May have extended hours sitting at a work station. Hours may be flexible in summer quarter. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
