Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the President and Heavy Duty Division Manager, the successful candidate will coordinate the agency’s fleet/customer maintenance and repair to ensure overall safety compliance. This position schedules and monitors fleet and customer repairs, preventive maintenance and maintains proper vehicle records. The goal of this position is to ensure the highest level of safety for fleet and our customers. This individual must have a commitment to company's vision, mission and goals.
Essential Functions:
Coordinate, schedule and audit vehicle maintenance records to include preventative, mechanical and electrical repair to tractors, trucks and trailers
Assist in coordination of vehicle maintenance or repair with outside vendors when needed
Ensure quality, compliance and safety of the entire Road Runner fleet
Assist with maintaining a clean and safe working environment
Track vehicle warranties and recalls, and maintain corresponding documents
Track annual state inspection and emissions stickers, safety first identification and interior postings to ensure every vehicle is properly tagged in compliance with DOT regulations as applicable
Coordinate wraps installations and removals
Conduct inspections of interior and exterior of all vehicles for damage and/or repair
Monitor and manage the service process to meet deadlines
Maintain digital records to organize information related to the agency’s fleet
Assist with vehicle purchase specifications, vehicles deliveries and disposal of retired vehicles
Schedule new service appointments based on the nature of the issue and capacity of shop
Oversee and assign jobs to techs for repair and maintenance
Complete Repair Orders and enter data for each job into software
Purchase and maintain parts inventory
Secondary Functions:
Daily review of impounded vehicle inventory
Release vehicles to customers and insurance companies
Perform light repair work or diagnose as needed
Maintain business partnerships with customers and vendors
Other duties as assigned
Education/Training:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a college degree, plus one year of fleet maintenance and/or commercial truck repair.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Maintain acceptable driving record with CDL class B license (or ability to obtain CDL with endorsements within 90 days). This individual must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers, employees, vendors and managers. Additionally this individual must be able to use Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel and Outlook) and possess the ability to learn our internal software. Must be able to perform math functions to complete Repair Orders.
Must be able to read system schematics and follow diagnostic steps.
Must understand that regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
Mitchell1 or similar software experience preferred but not required
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
As a normal function of the job, the employee will frequently kneel, push, grasp, pull, bend, stoop, walk for short distances, and climb entrance steps. The employee occasionally works in extreme outside weather conditions. The employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, as well as cleaning solutions and other fluids, oils, vehicle fumes, dust and noise. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move parts over 50 pounds.
