Our Client is currently seeking a Network Engineer to join their team in Norfolk, VA. The Network Engineer will diagnose, triage, resolve and document user initiated and/or escalated network-related support calls and questions from users within the organization. New network requests will be investigated and solutions proposed. This position will assist with Active Directory management, auditing, and policy enforcement. The Network Engineer will also be the primary POC for Purchasing and Finance interface, including approval of invoices.
Troubleshoot LAN and WAN connectivity issues and assist networking team with upgrades and modifications as required
Collaborate with and provide guidance and/or training on client hardware and software issues
Maintain network hardware and software inventory records
Support procurement of IT assets from requisition to vendor payment
Lead, coordinate and/or participate in IT projects as assigned
Maintain software licenses and ensure compliance with End User License Agreements
Coordinate payment of support agreements for hardware and software
Assist in completion of daily checklists for network health and security and raise concerns as necessary
Bachelor’s degree; Typically 5-8 years directly related experience.
Microsoft, Cisco, Juniper and other certifications a plus
Critical thinking and problem solving and detailed-oriented
Excellent communication skills
At least 2 years’ experience with supporting MS Windows environment.
Self-Motivated and able to work without supervision.
Ability to multi-task in a busy and changing work environment.
Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley a plus
Must be willing to work additional hours or nights and weekends as necessary to ensure that systems are operational at all core hours with minimal impact on end computer system users
