31960BRJob Title:FSG Engineer Design 1Department/Cost Center:134 - FSG LETTS Busn Unit - 13401 - Engineering ServicesExternal Job Description:POSITION CONTINGENT ON CONTRACT AWARDPosition Specifics:Seeking Engineer Design 1 candidate with knowledge and experience in one of the following software systems: FEMAP, Autodesk Nastran, Abaqus, Pro Engineering, and Inventor.Candidate have MUST have the following:tExperience as a Mechanical, Structural, and/or Electrical Engineer.tExperience with AutoCADtBe proficient with the full Microsoft Office 13 suitetExperience using MathCAD and/or Mat Lab.tMust be able to obtain and maintain a Confidential Security ClearanceThe selected candidate will be responsible for engineering analysis, reviewing drawings, drawing development, performing ship checks on a variety of ship classes, explain system characteristics, provide technical guidance to designers while also providing calculations that support design requirements. Responsibilities will also include investigation and preparing technical reports. The position will require the ability to work an office, industrial or shipboard environment, capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances during site surveys. Additionally, the position will require carrying/use of a laptop, performing site surveys, some travel 10-25% of the time, and lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one-man lift.Responsibilities:Designs major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures. Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
