SUMMARY

Drives truck over established route to deliver and sell products or render services to schools. Stocks and rotates all products. Records sales or deliveries on daily sales or delivery tickets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Make deliveries on time.

Maintain assigned truck in a neat and clean condition; both inside the cab and refrigerated box.

Advise the Sales Department of any prospective customers to solicit new business, and any problems concerning existing customers.

Maintain all maintenance inspection and D.O.T. records.

Listen to service complaints and relay to supervisor and the sales department.

May collect or pick up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise.

May issue or obtain customer signature on receipt for charge tickets.

Remove all out of date or damaged products from display case and storage cooler.

Issues credits for out of date or damaged product as authorized by the sales department.

Collect money from all cash accounts.

Maintain a clean and fully stocked display area for each customer.

Audits delivery tickets against actual product delivered to ensure accuracy.

Advise each customer of any display or cooler temperature problems.

Maintain an updated route guidebook of each customer's requirements for each delivery.

Inform supervisor and garage of any maintenance problems.

Maintain a driver's pre-trip and post vehicle inspection report daily.

Report all sales tickets, inventories and currency to route accounting daily.

Maintain telephone contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions concerning additional customer services and problems on the route.

Must be courteous to all customers.

Attend monthly Sales/Safety and any other company informational meetings as scheduled.

Must follow oral and written instructions.

Must be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure.

Must be able to learn to operate a ten-key calculator.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to pass DOT Physical Exam and Physical Agilities Tests. Favorable employer reference checks with stable employment history. Excellent communication and computational skills. Prior customer service experience or Direct Delivery Sales preferred.

EDUCATION or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to read and understand multiple vehicle gauges.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver's license required.

Class B CDL or ability to obtain (at minimum CDL Class B permit).

DOT Standard regulations must be followed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequently lifting dairy products up to 50 lbs. Requires reaching and handling dairy products to customers, and office personnel; and listens to customers for daily orders and instructions. Often works in inclement weather, spending over 51% of working time outdoors.
