POSITION TITLE: Dental Assistant
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt REPORTS TO: Office Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs a variety of dental assisting duties, in compliance with state regulations, to promote quality dental care for patients/parents in a stress-free, comfortable environment. Assists the doctor or hygienist, instructs patients/parents in oral hygiene techniques, communicates effectively with patients/parents, maintains equipment and inventory, obtain radiographs, adheres to OSHA requirements.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Obtain radiographs as needed
Review patients medical history and records
Prepare patients for diagnosis and/or treatment
Assist doctor or hygienist during treatment
Chart and record treatment information in chart
Perform post-operative patient care
Take impressions and bite registrations
Apply fluoride desensitizer and/or varnish
Clean and stock operatories
Control supplies and order as needed
Complete lab work including bleach trays, temporary crowns, pouring and trimming models, unpack and follow lab cases
Anticipate doctors needs during all procedures
Comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and privacy policies at all times
Assist with the implementation of practice marketing strategies such as asking for referrals and testimonials
Other duties as assigned
DESIRED SKILLS
High school graduate
DANB CDA preferred
Radiology certification
Radiography digital sensors
Lab model trimmer
Sterilization autoclaves, dryclaves, ultrasonic, handpiece equipment, Statim, intraoral camera
Nitrous oxide
Experience utilizing practice management software

Answer telephones, schedule appointments, handle patient finance, maintain patient records, and coordinate patient flow. Promotes a safe, pleasant, and harmonious environment for staff, doctor, and patient.
DUTIES:
Greet patients on the telephone and in person
Schedule and confirm patient appointments
Set up new patient charts
Check treatment cards and confirm that all appropriate information is included
Review charges with patient and collect payments
Input patient data and charges into computer
Assist in controlling inventory of front desk supplies
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be in good physical condition and able to withstand the stress and demands of an active practice. Must be able to endure long hours of standing, walking, stooping, bending, and sitting. Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and adequate vision and hearing are needed in daily work.
