Position Overview:The Technical Writer supporting the Management Consulting Operating Group is an integral component of a team supporting our Federal client’s organizational and digital transformation. The Technical Writer job is a, role for someone with at least 5 years of experience in information technology and a minimum of 3 years in a Technical Writer role. The Technical Writer Analyst is responsible for will be responsible for the product related documentation, documentation edits, and reviews. In addition to direct support of client, the technical writer will support proposal development to effectively convey information about our services in a compelling manner. Technical Writers must handle multiple revisions, edit and re-edit proposal sections as needed, and ensure that proposals maintain a consistent tone or voice.Provide Content and Configuration support for the EHR and associated clinical information systems to FC/HI operations to include interfacing with Government officials to include program offices both in-agency and inter-agency, other Defense Health Agency (DHA), and DoD service entities. The position shall support the management, integration, and stabilization of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) core areas and all Clinical Information Systems in the DHA portfolio.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:We are actively seeking an experienced and highly motivated technical writer to support writing technical documentation supporting both operational and business development teams including but not limited to proposals, test plans, bases of estimate, deployment plans, operator manuals and service continuity plans. This individual must be proficient in various computer software tools, be efficient, and must be willing to work in an environment that is fast paced with set, sometimes short, delivery schedules. This person will either have to generate technical documentation.

  • Author technical documentation from source material gathered from technical resources and/or develops clinical workflow description.
  • Interfaces with SMEs, technical writers, product specialists and technicians.
  • Explain complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Innate ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and graphics
  • Obtain an in-depth understanding of the DHA EHR system documentation requirements
  • Propose innovative approaches to documentation
  • Design and establish style guidelines and standards for texts and graphics that meet the need of the program
  • Analyze documents to maintain continuity of content style and ensure applicable standards are met
  • Review, revise, and modify documents prepared by others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Very strong analytical skills and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with evolving project requirements and priorities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, including willingness and ability to consult with subject matter experts from other functional areas.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Analyze documents and Edit documents to ensure compliance with style, design, layout, specification, and grammar and spelling requirements.
  • Manage updates and revisions to project documentation.
  • Collaborates with authors, assigned stakeholders, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gain better understanding of subject matter.
  • Create strong content that fulfills company standards and audience goals.
  • Utilize a variety of media forms; include images and charts.
  • Assisting to take minutes for meetings.
  • Participate in peer editing and production review work.
  • Provide standardized written procedures, checklists and logic flow charts for processes and common tasks.
  • Develops and maintains training manuals, FAQ library, templates, forms or other documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (English, Journalism, Marketing, Business, Communications or a related field).

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • 5 + years’ experience in technical writing and editing documentation.
  • Strong writing, production, and technical editing skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, to include Publisher, Visio, and SharePoint.
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Pro.
  • Previous experience working for Defense Health Agency or other Healthcare organization is preferred

Office Location and Travel:
  • Perform the primary activity at the DHA Regional Office – DHA HQ, Falls Church, VA. Telework consideration is available as approved by the COR.
