English Construction Company, Inc. is looking to hire carpenter helpers for a project in the Martinsville area.
A carpenter helper will perform any combination of duties on the construction project by transferring from one task to another where work demands require employees with varied experience and ability to work without close supervision. A carpenter helper will assist the carpenter with measuring, cutting, installing and fastening materials. In addition to assisting the carpenter, a carpenter helper must be able to complete other tasks as assigned by the site supervisor(s). Tasks include but are not limited to: measuring distances from grade stakes, driving stakes, and stretching tight line, bolt, nail, align, and block up under forms, signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications, level earth to line grade specifications, using pick and shovel, mix concrete and apply caulking compounds. The employee must perform a variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools, such as demolishing buildings, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing projections from concrete, mounting pipe hangers, and cutting and attaching insulating material.
Employee may occasionally exert 50-100 pounds of force and 10-20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Employee is required to lift, carry, push and pull in standing, walking and sitting positions. Work is usually performed with other workers. Employee may perform incidental work items included within other crafts and other duties as assigned by a supervisor. All employees must have the ability to adjust to a flexible work schedule as working overtime may be required.
