The Harvest Table Restaurant in Meadowview, VA is accepting applications for a Head
Chef. The Harvest Table is the premier farm-to-table restaurant in our region, with a
10+ year history of established business and community support. We are dedicated to
the creative use of seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients from the restaurant’s own farm,
farmers’ markets, and dozens of Virginia producers. We are currently in a phase of
restructuring and some renovations, intending to reopen in April. We are seeking a head
chef with experience in all aspects of kitchen operations. The ideal candidate would be
creative in menu design, basing their plans on seasonally available local food,
experienced in budgeting and financial aspects of restaurant trade, and good at working
with others to adjust practices as needed.
Duties would include:
Managing of kitchen and serving staff, scheduling, and planning.
Develop relationships with local growers and farmers to anticipate supply
availability across the growing seasons and maintain necessary ordering and
inventories.
Monitor costs and work with the general manager to establish budgeting goals
Excellent organization and communication skills to direct smooth overall
operations.
Ability to be flexible and creative in trying new approaches to both in-house
and grab-and-go dining.
Good at organizing larger group events both on and off site.
Our facility has a modern well-supplied kitchen, conventional and featured brick oven,
trailer cooker. We seat 50+ in our dining room, with additional seasonal outdoor space
for 15-20, and private dining space for up to 40.
