Summary About the Position: This position is located at the U.S. Army National Guard Readiness Center, Aviation Airfield Operations Branch, in Arlington, Virginia. About the Surrounding Area: Situated in Northern Virginia on the south bank of the Potomac River directly across from Washington D.C. Arlington is headquarters to many departments and agencies of the federal government, including the Department of Defense and is the location of many national memorials and museums. Responsibilities Provide expert technical and airfield operations functional support to Army National Guard State, Installation, and Airfield Managers at ARNG Airfields and Heliports nation-wide. Exercise staff oversight and synchronization on airfield and other related administrative matters. Collaborate and coordinate functional responsibilities with State Army Aviation Officers, Installation Commanders, and other command officials as required. Serve as a senior advisor to the Chief, Aviation and Safety Division regarding airfield operations mission support requirements. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes delivering supervisory direction and/or counsel to civilian team which includes off-site airfield managers; providing administrative oversight regarding airfield operations that include air traffic control and/or airspace management; furnishing technical expertise in airfield administration which incorporates air traffic control and/or airspace management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Managing Human Resources Organizational Performance Analysis Planning and Evaluating Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13). The following course and time requirements apply to this position: The Supervisory Development Course (SDC) must be completed within one year of placement into the position. The Foundation Course (FC) is required for all supervisors and managers hired after 30 September 2006. The Basic Course (BC) must be completed within one year of placement into the position. The Intermediate Course (IC) must be completed within two years after placement into the position. The Advanced Course (AC) must be completed within two years after placement into the position. Mandatory Training Requirement - If the selectee has not completed a federal civilian supervisory development course within the past three years, he/she must complete the Army Civilian Supervisory Development Course within one year of appointment. One year supervisory probationary period may be required.
