Reach Your Peak.Summary: Operational responsibility for a departmental aspect of Snow Surfaces Operations. Supervise, direct, hire and train a 12-20 member team. Assist in the development and be an integral, productive leader of the Snow Surfaces Team. Supervise the operation of all Grooming and Trail Crew Duties, equipment and or systems related to Grooming and or Trail Maintenance Operations. Provide the best possible skiing surface using the equipment supplied to the best of his/her ability while following all company policies and procedures.Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Report to work on time when scheduled.

Report to work in proper dress or uniform and groomed appropriately.

Observe all employee rules and regulations.

Observe all applicable safety standards.

Demonstrate positive attitude, especially in area of customer service.

Assist with any/all Mt. Operation’s activities as required.

Report any dangerous conditions and/or situations to Sr. Snow Surfaces Manager immediately.

Suggest or identify any methods, which may contribute to upgrading the efficiency of the department.

Assist with safe and timely disposal of hazardous waste materials by coordinating daily inspection of hazardous waste monitoring systems.

Ensure that all MMC policies and procedures are followed as they relate to Fuel and Hazardous Materials.

Immediately report situations, conditions or infractions that may result in environmental degradation to the Sr Snow Surfaces Manager.

Coordinate the interviews and hiring of new staff.

Assist with evaluations for seasonal and regular full time staff prior to season’s end and in accordance with HR requirements.

Coordinate the development and maintenance of training guidelines.

Ensure all team members training levels meet company expectations.

Ensure the Snow Surfaces supervisor or Leads are completing required training of team members in accepted operational practices as related to Grooming and or Trail Maintenance Operations.

Supervise all Snow Surfaces operations as required.

Assist in the development of Operational and Daily Snow, Grooming and Trail Maintenance Plans

Assist in developing the fiscal Snow Surfaces budgets as well as forecasting and preparation of capital/expense plans. Follow approved purchasing guidelines.

Direct grooming and trail maintenance operations and or related snow surfaces projects within established budgetary, environmental, safety and time perimeters.

Coordinate Snow Surfaces Team Schedule; communicate changes in plan to Snow Surfaces Manager in a timely manner.

Ensure all Snow Surfaces equipment is in good working order at the beginning of the operational season

Provide operational reports on the performance indicators of the Snow Surfaces operations daily and or as required.

Ensure inspections and maintenance on machinery is completed in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.

Direct the maintenance of grooming equipment (operator level) and or trail maintenance equipment.

Maintain departmental safety specific programs required by Stowe Mountain Resort.

Maintain participation in Workers Health and Safety Group

Ensure the safe, proper use, and maintenance of company vehicles assigned to the Snow Surfaces Department.

Coordinate weekly safety meetings with the Snow Surfaces Team.

Ensure that all work areas and job sites clean and orderly with consideration for company property and guest experience as well as the safety of co-workers and guests.

Maintain and track all company tools and assets, which are used regularly or have been issued to employee. Employees will be responsible for damage by misuse, neglect or carelessness.

Complete and ensure that all required logs, checklists and forms are completed in a timely manner.

Maintain focus on current job duties. If you recognize a situation that presents an imminent hazard to employees and/or guests, you have the authority to stop work and notify a supervisor immediately.

Completion of training in lift evacuation, as documented by MMSP. Ability to participate in a lift evacuation and knowledge to lead a team/group.

Requirements:

Valid driver's license with acceptable record, Commercial Driver’s License- preferred

Must possess the ability to work in all weather conditions for extended periods.

Advanced education level preferred (College, Technical experience or program certification)

Must possess the ability to work extended (12 hour) and varied shifts

Solid mechanical aptitude- required

2 years computer experience- preferred

2 years supervisory/managerial experience in Snow Surfaces preferred. Proven ability to lead a team to meet objectives on time required.

Advance knowledge of snowmaking, grooming or trail maintenance principles, methods and equipment required.

Ability to implement, direct and teach accepted operational practices as related to, Grooming and or Trail Maintenance Operations

Ability to direct the implementation of grooming and trail maintenance operations and or related snow surfaces projects within established budgetary, environmental, safety and time perimeters.

Must possess the ability to clearly communicate goals and directions to the team and team leadership.

Ability to direct the maintenance of grooming equipment (operator level) and or trail maintenance equipment.

Ability to demonstrate and ensure safe working practices with reference to grooming and trail maintenance operations.

Ability to conduct and or direct grooming and or trail maintenance operations in a manner that maximizes production.

Ability to direct the safe operation of heavy equipment.

Must possess the ability to respond rapidly to abnormal situations in a responsible manner (i.e. power failure).

Knowledge of, or ability to become familiar with the trail network of the resort in a short period of time.

Ability to perform physical activities in open and enclosed spaces such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.

Ability to perform heavy work occasionally (defined as exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects).

Visual acuity necessary to perform work and operate machines where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach or at driving distance and also to perform inspection and maintenance tasks on equipment at a distance close to the eye.
