Position Description Number D2316000 and is part of the 158th

Maintenance Squadron of the Vermont Air National Guard.Learn more about this agencyResponsibilities

Performs repair and maintenance of LO coatings and structural

systems. Reviews maintenance work packages, identify areas to be

repaired, modified, or restored. Strictly complies with technical

order data, job guides, local maintenance procedures, and work

control documents. Removes specialized LO coatings utilizing weapon

system specific plan-form alignment procedures for each LO material

application.

Performs repair and maintenance of composite, advanced

composites, and thermoplastic aircraft structures using state of the

art materials, methods, and procedures. Inspects plastics, composite

and/or advanced composite materials for damage or deterioration.

Repairs, fabricates, modifies, removes, and installs plastic,

composite and or advanced composite items, parts assemblies, and

structures. Restores damaged structures to original level of

strength, durability and surface finish. Orients fiberglass, boron,

carbon, or aramid fiber plies during layup process to facilitate

proper repair.

Performs evaluations and maintains aircraft Radar Cross Section

(RCS) signature, ensuring aircraft signature integrity. Conducts

Outer Mold Line (OML) inspection of aircraft surfaces in accordance

with MAJCOM directed inspection intervals. Assesses damage to LO

coatings and structure's such as RAM, RAS, and other specialized LO

coatings and applications. Conducts inspections IAW MAJCOM

instructions and local maintenance procedures. Accurately identifies

and records LO system damage types, complex dimensions, and location

plots. Utilizes the Integrated Maintenance Information System (IMIS)

or Autonomous Logistics Information System (ALIS) and associated

hardware to precisely enter information into the Low Observable

Health Assessment System (LOHAS). Records RCS results and update

aircraft signature status following aircraft flights and after LO

coating/structural maintenance actions.

Performs repair, application, and maintenance of corrosion

preventatives and paints on aircraft, powered, and non-powered AGE.

Identifies metal corrosion. Performs necessary testing to identify

type of corrosion present by examination with magnifying equipment,

chemical and mechanical methods.

Performs other duties as assigned.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you

specialized experiences in the inspection, repair, modification,

removal, installation, troubleshooting, and data documentation of

Low Observable (LO) signature systems and structures. The applicant

must have the competencies to work LO aircraft designs and

structures. Experienced in conducting testing procedures, prevention

of metal corrosion, and material failure. Skilled in applying RCS

signature reduction techniques and design elements and skilled in

the use of various complex tools and equipment. The applicant must

have the working knowledge of metal strength characteristics

(annealing, tempering, and normalizing); along with composite and LO

material characteristics, and experienced in selecting proper

materials for repair actions. Must have a working knowledge of

health hazards associated with maintenance and proper mitigation

procedures, such as decontamination and housekeeping. Skilled in

assembling and repairing aircraft parts and components using

specialized fasteners, classified adhesives and advanced composites.

The applicant must have the working knowledge of assigned computer

systems such as, IMIS, IMS, ALIS, SAS, and/or LOHAS used for

maintenance planning, technical instruction, and maintenance

documentation. Competent in identifying proper repair materials

using engineering drawings to ensure correct radar band frequency is

being mitigated. Skilled in verifying materials that match

engineering drawings using reflectometer probes. Experienced and

skilled in fabricating repair parts from RAM, cutting tools, and

adhering these parts to aircraft surfaces and fasteners using vacuum

bags, fixtures, and other pressure inducing processes. Skilled and

experienced in applying scrim (gauzelike) materials to RAM and

aircraft surfaces in preparation for RAM cover strip installation.

Experiences included installing RAM cover strips to panel and skin

gaps; applying RAM pastes to aircraft surface gaps, voids, and

gouges; sanding and skiving RAM and RAM pastes to required aircraft

contours; and, repairing LO treatments on polycarbonate

transparencies using edge sealing compounds, adhesives, primers, and

conductive films.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE WG-08: Must have a minimum of 12 months

of specialized experiences in the inspection, repair, modification,

removal, installation, troubleshooting, and data documentation of

Low Observable (LO) signature systems and structures. The applicant

structures. Experienced in conducting testing procedures, prevention
