The Washington County Youth Service Bureau is seeking floor staff for our Return House residential program located in Barre. Immediate opening for second shift (2:30-10:00PM), including some weekend shifts.
Return House offers young men aged 18-24 opportunities for personal growth, job and life skills development and community engagement as they exit incarceration. The ideal staff member believes in second and third chances and believes that all youth have the power to succeed despite past experiences. Floor staff positions are entry level positions and represent a great opportunity for individuals exploring careers in youth-care work, juvenile justice and criminal justice and for individuals looking to supplement retirement while giving back to community.
Support staff provides direct supervision of residents, facilitate skill building and recreational opportunities, and develop supportive relationships through one-on-one conversations, direct mentoring, and positive presence. Duties also include helping/supervising residents with house-related chores including housekeeping, meal planning and preparation. Staff also routinely provide support through a wide variety of mentorship opportunities focused on employment, social, and relationship skills.
Requirements: Must be available to work some weekend shifts, possess a clean driving record and hold a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. Applicants must also possess a desire to support youth through both successes and mis-steps. Solid interpersonal and communication skills are helpful in navigating staff communications across shifts.
Vacation and sick time accrues after a probation period.
