Job Description

SUMMARYServes meals and beverages to patrons in dining establishment by performing the following duties:

DUTIESPresents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service.Writes order on check or memorizes it.Relays order to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and service bars.Serves patrons from chafing dish at table.Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.Completes all assigned side works and special projectsMust have complete menu and bar knowledgeTotals bill and accepts payment or refers patron to Cashier.

QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITIESAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
