SUMMARY Provides support for the Family Law Attorney and Legal Services Director. Assists in trial preparation and filing court documents and letters. Maintain office systems and calendars while meeting all deadlines. This position must have the ability to work with highly confidential information and documentation, maintaining such confidentiality at all times.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Provide support for the Family Law Attorney and Legal Services Director by preparing and filing court documents and letters. Maintain office systems and calendars while meeting all deadlines.Prepare legal documents necessary in representing clients of SafeHaven of Tarrant County.File legal documents with the judicial courts.Schedule appointments including but not limited to court dates and office appointments.Maintain the legal programs calendar.Comply with deadlines as directed by the Legal Services Director, judicial courts, or SafeHaven.Obtain information needed to pursue legal remedies for victims.Prepare and direct delivery of subpoenas.Attend hearings as required by the Legal Services Director.Maintain and update client lists and information.Assist the Legal Services Director and Family Law Attorney in collecting client information and disbursing the materials to the correct agency.Maintain a monthly statistical report.Prepare information for presentations.Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with judges, opposing counsel, opposing parties and clients.Must be able to work a schedule as directed by the Legal Services Director and be available to work during the period which the courthouse is conducting business between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.OTHER DUTIES:In accordance with the team philosophy of the agency, may occasionally be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed above.Must act in accordance with the agency's mission statement and goals.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThere are no supervisory responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be familiar with legal services, resources and procedures in Tarrant County. LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to write routine reports, correspondence and pleadings in English.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to calculate child support percentages according to the Texas Family Code guidelines.REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems while working independently. Must have ability to prioritize and follow instructions.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSMust possess a current, valid driver's license and proof of automobile liability insurance.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
