Summary

Leading Disaster Recovery Firm is seeking a Case Management team for a Disaster Recovery Housing Program in the U.S. Virgin Islands. As a Case Manager, theyll serve as the primary point of contact for property owners affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria, helping to return these residents to their safe and functional homes as quickly and efficiently as possible. The ideal candidate must be able to develop working relationships with assigned households; clearly communicate Program policies and determinations; evaluate real estate and construction documents; and perform financial award calculations. We are looking to staff offices in St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix. This position will report to one of these locations, but it may require travel to various communities.

We are also looking for Call Center Assistants to answer in-bound calls for the Program and provide the Case Workers with administrative assistance as needed.

Roles and Responsibilities

Assist applicants with navigating through the process to complete projects within policy guidelines:

Conduct in-person meetings with property owners to explain the Disaster Housing Program and answer questions.

Complete the processing of all open applications, including reviewing and verifying all required information and documentation to determine Program eligibility.

Calculate assistance awards and payment amounts according to Program policies and submitted documentation; proactively collect outstanding documentation.

Monitor for fraud, waste, and abuse of the Program, as well as, duplication of benefits.

Complete closeout process, which includes quality assurance of required documentation in the Programs database.

Articulate details of the Program in-person, over the phone, and in written communication in a manner that is understandable by persons of differing socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.

Coordinate with the appropriate parties to maintain established construction deadlines and keep the applicant on schedule for Program completion.

Maintain accurate communication logs and applicant files using the Programs web-based system of record.

Prioritize conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously; and follow-through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures.

Adhere to compliance with all applicable rules and regulations; maintain discretion and confidentiality.

Develop and sustain a level of professionalism among staff, clientele, and applicants.

Respond to all applicant and client communication within 24 hours.

Travel to applicant homes as needed.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelors degree is a plus.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service, case management, and/or clerical work.

Experience with CDBG housing or FEMA programs is a plus.

Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and online databases.

Ability to learn and apply the Program policies, perform mathematical operations to calculate financial awards, and use analytical skills to interpret and evaluate information.

Strong organizational skills with ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.

Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Highly resourceful team-player with the ability to work independently as well.

Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer service and response.

Valid drivers license and access to reliable means of transportation.

Ability to perform some evening or weekend work as required.

Ability to travel to/from assisted properties and households, sometimes on short notice.

Must be fluent in English (both written and spoken); bilingual Spanish and/or Creole is a major plus!

Must be authorized to work in the United States.
