Job Description

We have a unique opportunity for a C4ISR Mission specialist to support our intelligence line of business, and captures related to Intel / C4ISR. In this key role, you will lead the development of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance(C4ISR) solutionsto the Department of Defence or other customers as needed. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will bring your proven knowledge in the C4ISR domain to support both the project delivery and business development teams in delivering documentation, designs and innovative solutions that meet stringent customer requirements.

Working within a multi-faceted team located in multiple locations, your technical background in the C4ISR domain should include a deep understanding of systems and tools that support the warfighter in the in the Australian military context. Combined with your engineering skills, you will assist with expanding the technical and operational understanding for other Leidos staff. You will primarily support programs and captures related to the Intel / C4ISR line of business. Additionally, the opportunity exists to work acrossother Leidos business areas accounts, with national and international visibility.

It will also include a level of customer and senior stakeholder engagement, along with the ability to articulate design decisions to both internal and external teams.

About the role - Strategic Scope

  • Act as a subject matter expert for the C4ISR domain within Leidos
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to C4ISR programs and captures
  • Contribute and lead engineering support to captures with technical design and system documentation
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to programs in the C4ISR domain
  • Work with internal stakeholders to build and maintain demonstration capabilities
  • Apply knowledge of emerging industry practices to improve system design, build, deployment and operation and facilitate problem identification and resolution
  • Participate in customer engagements, design meetings and workshops
  • Lead activities to build, model, analyse and draw conclusions about the operational systems, scenarios, doctrine and processes related to the C4ISR domain in Australia
  • Maintain alignment to current C4ISR initiatives through engagement in industry and Defence working groups
  • Lead Internal C4ISR Research And Development (IRAD) and Cooperative Research And Development (CRAD) activities for Leidos Australia (as required)

This role can be based in either Canberra or Melbourne.

About You

You are an experienced Systems Engineer in the C4ISR domain with the ability to collaborate with engineering and other functional support teams. Ideally you have the following attributes:

  • Bachelor degree or higher in engineering and / or relevant qualifications in a similar technical discipline
  • Experience in the ADF C4ISR domain developing or supporting one or more of situational awareness, C2, radar, tactical data links and communications systems
  • Knowledge of ADF and allied C4ISR systems, processes, doctrine and governance
  • At least 10 years working in a technical capacity with complex engineering systems
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Prepared to make timely decisions and learn from experience
  • Detailed understanding of Systems Architecture (DAF, DoDAF or similar)
  • Respects others and understands the value of diversity in the team
  • Consistently demonstrates integrity and values-based leadership.

Due to the nature of the role, we require the successful candidate to be an Australian Citizen and hold a current NV1 security clearance, or have the ability to obtain.
