Libertas School of Memphis is public charter school transforming a neighborhood school in a historic but marginalized neighborhood of Memphis. Role summary: This role operationalizes our mission into a quality, financially sustainable organization. In Montessori, practical life is about the dignity of meeting fundamental human needs; this servant- leader role ensures that our teachers have what they need to help our students and families flourish.
Role information
Full-time, year-round role. Often participates in meetings or events outside of regular hours.
Reports to Executive Director
Supervises: Personnel Director; Office Manager & Assistant; Operations Assistant; Systems Administrator; various contracted support providers (e.g., accounting, transportation, nutrition, technology, custodial and maintenance)
Key relationships: Principal; teachers and support staff; Board finance committee
Start date: ideally by mid or late July 2019; August may be possible.
Measures of success
On track to budgeted expenses and revenues, and maintain 45+ days cash
Timely, thorough completion of key operations milestones and monthly financial reports
85% stakeholder satisfaction with support services
85% of supervised staff meet expectations and persist
Attainment of enrollment and attendance goals
Compliance with all applicable rules and policies
Satisfactory performance evaluations
Core competencies
Significant experience and knowledge in school, nonprofit or small business operations, including at least some of the areas of responsibility outlined below; at minimum, capable of global financial awareness / effective management of revenues and expenses.
Lead teams and projects to achieve results.
Service orientation: Nothing is not my job. The successful candidate must be willing to serve directly when needed (i.e., fix a jammed copy machine, clean up a spill, etc).
Key responsibilities
Leadership:
Contribute to organizational planning, and ensure fidelity of implementation.
Recruit, select and supervise designated staff and service providers.
Develop and monitor service level goals, plans, schedules, etc for operations functions.
Provide communicate and training with stakeholders about school operations.
Assist in liaison with district and state officials as needed.
Finance:
Work closely with ED, Board, and Principal in creation of annual budget; lead monitoring of actual revenues and expenses monthly, and identify potential course corrections.
Ensure consultants effectively conduct accounts payable, payroll, accounting, etc.
Conduct and oversee procurement / purchasing of services and supplies/materials.
Manage public grants reimbursement processes.
Ensure adherence to fiscal policies, record keeping, audits, and fiscal compliance.
Family Engagement and Student Enrollment and Attendance:
Supervise Office Manager and Assistant in ensuring a welcoming and informative front office, school communications, timely and accurate management of student registration and records, and daily tracking of attendance.
Work with Principal and Family Engagement Coordinator to reach shared goals for family engagement, student enrollment, and attendance.
Facilities
With Operations Assistant, oversee custodial, routine and preventative maintenance.
Coordinate any major facility projects.
Ensure safety systems for the school facility and community.
Technology and Data
Plan for school technology needs (e.g. computing, network infrastructure, printing/copying, user support), and coordinate with service providers to provide.
Supervise Systems Analyst in the administration of relevant systems and softwares (student information; registration; communications; financial; help desk; etc).
Personnel:
Oversee our Personnel Director in all HR functions: facilitate employee recruitment and onboarding; coordinate with broker to develop and implement employee benefits; keep records; employee compliance; employee relations; etc.
Transportation:
Coordinate with bus provider to ensure effective daily service, trips, etc
Nutrition:
Oversee our provider to ensure high-quality, affordable daily food services.

Comfort and experience analyzing and presenting financial and other operations data. Proficiency with standard office tools (e.g., email, word processing, spreadsheets).
Bachelors degree.
