Understands the testing equipment in detail, including its structure, function, indications for use, physiological effect upon the patient, and basic maintenance procedures. Understands and is able to apply principles of anatomy and physiology, normal and abnormal, related to procedures performed. Possesses working knowledge of the disease and pathological conditions encountered. May perform intraoperative monitoring, evoked potentials, nerve conduction and/or electroencephalography (EEG) testing for patients.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESSubmit reports to physicians summarizing test results. Prepare patients physically for medical procedures. Outlines the regulations and guidelines for electroencephalography (EEG). Monitors stock levels of medical equipment and restocks or reorders as needed. Follows proper data gathering and analysis processes and policies. Follows pre-established patient safety guidelines. Explains safety and sterilization issues associated with the use of medical equipment. Explain testing procedures to patients, answering questions or reassuring patients as needed. Documents defective equipment and reports it to an appropriate supervisor. Detects and summarizes patterns in data and findings by producing simple reports. Conduct tests or studies such as electroencephalography (EEG), nerve conduction studies (NCS), electromyography (EMG), and intraoperative monitoring (IOM). Calibrate, troubleshoot, or repair equipment and correct malfunctions as needed.DEPARTMENT DETAILSThis position is Full Time 80 hours a pay period working Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM. Some travel will be required to outreach facilities.QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or its equivalent is required. Graduated from an approved program of Electroneurodiagnostic Technology (ENDT) or similar education is preferred. Completion of department approved training program is required.Working knowledge of neuroanatomy, physiology, basic electronics and electrical safety, general knowledge of electroencephalography (EEG) and evoked potentials (EP) instrumentation, pattern recognition, and various medical and pharmacological conditions is preferred.
