Job Description

As the Project Manager - Project Management Office, your knowledge and drive towards Modernization, Mechanization and Data Analytics will help us to ensurerealization of Burning Ambition, Zero Harm, Elimination of Fatalities, Life of Asset Plan and advancement of Future Smart Mining.

The 4focus areas for this role will be to:

Operational Planning

  • Develop, own and maintain the overall programme plan and perform critical path planning to ensure all integration dependencies are understood and delivered in line with the programme schedule.
  • Ensure the competencies, structure and services of the Project Support Office in the operational area are aligned to the business plans.

Work Management

  • Participate at the appropriate level in the ongoing developing of processes for the effective management of capital, project expenditure, Programme Office Budgets and Finances and manage the capturing and categorisation of project ideas andthe provision of Programme Office in the knowledge areas of:Project Management, Planning and Estimating, Cost and Schedules Management and Forecasting, Contract Management and Procurement Management.
  • Ensure improvements to the computer systems areincorporated, communicated effectively while managing the project close-out and post-implementation review processes to ensure effective completion following project handover.

Change Management

  • Implement the requiredmethods and manners in order to facilitate the necessary change relating to both internal and external processes while developing a structured approach tochangeis critical to help ensure a beneficial transition while mitigating disruption.
  • Consulting and advisory services to Operational Managers, Project Managers and team members and outsource services providers is provided effectively and timeously.

Compliance andHealth & Safety

  • Ensure compliance of the discipline with external (legislative, regulatory, permitting) requirements and are aligned to theAnglo American compliance requirements.
  • Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibilityand act as a role model and reinforce a workplace culture where safety and health is paramount.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in either of the following disciplines: Engineering, Finance or Quantity Surveying. Preferable on a B.Sc level.
  • A formal Project Management or Business Management qualification.

Technical Experience and requirements:

  • Advanced Project management fundamentals and awareness of all new technologies and their impact on operational activities within scope of role including Business improvement tools and techniques.
  • At least 10 years Middle Management level experience in the mining industry, as well as in the management of project programmes, or large industrial projects.
  • Advanced experience of managing a Strategic Programme Management Office and Commercially astute, understands commercial impacts of change control, risks and issues.
  • Advanced Computer Knowledge. Preferably in MS Projects or similar programs.
