Showstopper, the nations first and largest dance competition, is looking for a traveling photographer to work at dance competitions across the United States. Each year, our team engages with over 100,000 dancers in over 35 cities where we provide an unmatched experience for all of our participants. This is a great opportunity for someone to work in a non-normative setting where a great work ethic and skill is appreciated and rewarded.
Our travel team consists of a strong network of individuals who thrive in a fast paced environment and enjoy the challenges of capturing dance. It takes skill and precision to capture the movement, emotion, and talent involved in dance. We are seeking an individual with the experience and expertise to deliver high-quality photos to our dancers without the use of Photoshop.
Our photographers travel to 10-16 cities per year. Our dance competitions are held every weekend from February through May (excluding Easter). Travel on these weekends is typically Thursday afternoon though Monday morning. We select our best photographers to attend our National Finals in June and July.
This job is for the exceptional. Required Skills:
Prior professional photography experience is required; DSLR videography experience a plus;
Prior touring experience is preferred;
Camera knowledge;
Understand tethering;
Think systematically and understand how to work in a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment;
Take direction and work well with a team;
Attention to detail;
Helpful, well-rounded, and excited to be part of a team of extremely hard working individuals;
Experience flying and traveling in an organized and professional capacity;
Confident working independently to capture movement, emotion and the overall experience involved in a dance event;
Have strong problem-solving skills;
Work well under pressure;
Maintains a high-level work product and positive attitude while working long hours;
Showstopper provides travel to and from the events, meals at all events, and double occupancy hotel accommodations.
Applicants must complete a background check, physical and drug test prior to hire. Compensation starts at $25 per hour.
