Job ResponsibilitiesProvides circulation services using automated Integrated Library System (ILS) modules to perform circulation functions; retrieves materials from reserves, general collection and requests resources from other library locations. Comprehends and follows circulation policy and procedures; uses professional judgment in troubleshooting circulation problems; makes suggestions on circulation policy changes where applicable. Assists patrons with the use of printers, photocopiers, computers and other technology.Provides excellent reference and customer service. Answers basic and intermediate reference questions successfully using a wide array of print and electronic reference resources; makes informed decisions on identifying resources that are appropriate to query and successfully uses information technologies in information retrieval. Assists patrons with searching electronic databases, library catalog, and e-books.Assists students with MS Word Suite and Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Desire to Learn.Maintains accurate shelving of books and periodicals on a continual basis and scheduled shelf-reading projects.Identifies and participates in staff development appropriate to the mission of the library and the strategic plan of the College.Support librarians with special projects. Follows all procedures in closing the library.Midlands Technical College is dedicated to providing excellent service to its students, employees, and the community.
