NexGen Data Systems is seeking a dynamic individual to join a Cloud Engineering team in support of DevSecOps environment within the Amazon Web Services cloud. NGDS is looking to expand operations to include a parallel team of engineers to expedite and expand the deployment of advanced tooling to support a secure DevOps pipeline for the Naval Data Center. An ideal candidate is a developer motivated to engineer Infrastructure as Code (IaC) components of the architecture and automate the DevSecOps pipeline, or a systems engineer with a solid background in scripting and a desire to move towards integration of the DevSecOps pipeline. The candidate will also be expected to guide teams in designing, building, testing and deploying changes to existing software.
Roles and ResponsibilitiesA successful candidate will be able to balance several roles in the development process, including coding, testing and deployment. They must also possess the communication and management skills needed to collaborate across multiple teams continually working on updating sections of code, testing the updated sections and deploying.- Engineering: fluency with engineering infrastructure as code for various AWS and Azure platform components (servers, networks, load balancers, auto-scaling and security)
- Development: hands-on experience writing code for production software in a common programming language (ie: C#/C, Java, NodeJs, etc)
- Automation scripting: powershell, bash, ansible, yaml/json
- Security: Experience designing and implementing security controls in AWS and Azure
- Microservices: Building, deploying, debugging and orchestrating Docker/CRI-O containers in Kubernetes
- Data: Deploying/integrating relational, document and NoSQL databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PosgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL)
- Competency building and managing GIT repositories and CI/CD devops pipelines
- Fundamental understanding of building Red Hat Linux servers in the context of autoscaling and self-healing in AWS and Azure
- Experience working in Agile teams, developing backlog items, predicting story points and collaborating on sprint and epic goals
- Experience with Red Hat OpenShift 3.11
- Experience building a production OpenShift cluster in AWS and/or Azure
- Experience managing and securing a production GitLab installation
- Experience implementing Federal Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
- Experience implementing IaC using Hashicorp Terraform, Ansible Tower and/or CloudFormation Templates
- Certifications: AWS DevOps or SysOps (or DevOps) Associate and/or Azure Administrator (or Developer) Associate
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, computer information systems, computer engineering or a related discipline.
