The SBA Underwriter / Portfolio Manager I position is responsible for reviewing, underwriting and decisioning within delegated lending authority, new money loan requests under the Retail credit policy. Underwriting and decisioning will be based on sound credit with particular emphasis on adherence to credit policy, job aids and requirements, bank's risk culture, financial analysis/modeling, risk evaluation and mitigation and proper loan structuring. Position is responsible for underwriting and decisioning within delegated lending authority, within SLAs and meeting production and quality requirements. The SBA Underwriter / Portfolio Manager I will independently interact with Senior Management, Sales Teams, Credit Products Officers, Credit Officer and /or MAD, in order to discuss and resolve risk related issues. The SBA Underwriter / Portfolio Manager I independently reviews tax returns or financials, proposed loan structure, collateral and due diligence, makes recommendations and approves new money requests within delegated lending authority. Aggressively seeks alternative means of financing or counter offers for all borrowers when it is determined that the original request cannot be accommodated. The SBA Underwriter / Portfolio Manager I will perform the functions of the position with periodic oversight and is expected to perform with reasonable or general supervisory intervention. Exhibits competency at independently reaching conclusions and forms clear view of credit structure and business risk to the Bank. Good understanding of industry nuances applicable to the credits contained within group's portfolio. Strong communication skills; and ability to influences others by persuasively presenting thoughts and ideas to gain commitment and agreement for proposed ideas and solutions.Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in business administration, finance, accounting and/or economics preferred.
1 - 3 years of lending experience with exhibited competency in structuring the appropriate type of loan to a business
Need, understand and apply credit policy, adhere to department procedures, identify areas of risk beyond acceptable levels.
Equivalent work experience may be considered as an alternative to formal degree program completion.
