R.P. Marzilli & Company is an award winning landscape contractor that builds and maintains high-end landscapes in the Greater Boston area. Our teams of site specialists, expert masons, and experienced horticulture crews work with our managers and estimators to deliver amazing projects. Due to ongoing growth, we are seeking an experienced Mason to join our team.
A Crew Leader's primary duty is the management of multiple jobs and crews for quality and profitability through the course of a year. Crew Leaders regularly supervise the activities of crews ranging from 3 to 6 people.
To do this you must lead, organize, teach and motivate your crew to work in a focused way at a consistently solid pace. You must keep the site organized and communicate well with your crew, Field Supervisor, Project Manager, and company Administration and Management. A Crew Leader is responsible for recruiting and hiring qualified crew members in accordance with the division's business plan and budget, and firing crew members who cannot perform to company standards or comply with the company's code of conduct.
The Crew Leader's job is to be a close partner with the Field Supervisor in supporting these efforts and developing the skill sets to become a Field Supervisor.
A Crew Leader's Primary Responsibilities are:
-Installs the highest quality masonry projects
-Communicates well and presents a strong image with crew, PM, LA, GC, administration, and management
-Directs and leads laborers and masonry activities of crew members; analyzes and resolves worker problems
-Prepares site for hardscape installation (layout patterns or footings); sets vertical and horizontal alignment of structures with level, lines, etc; sets stone, brick, or block in place according to layout; ensures hardscapes are built to design intent
-Maintains a clean, neat and safe job site
-Understands proper use and maintenance of all tools and equipment
-Conducts weekly Safety Tool Box Talks with crew and follows / enforces all safety rules; permits NO accidents
-Communicates well and completes daily work logs
-Fosters a spirit of teamwork and cooperation among all
-Trains, mentors, and develops skill sets of crew members and learns the job of the next immediate Supervisor
SKILLS REQUIRED:
1. Time management skills; must abide by and enforce strict punctuality policies
2. Knowledge and experience in plant materials and proper planting practices
3. Read and accurately interpret landscape plans for installations
4. Strength, stamina and mobility to perform heavy physical work in all weather conditions
5. Machinery operation - Hoisting/Hydraulics license
6. Valid Driver's License
7. Valid DOT Medical Card
8. Safety Training - CPR/First Aid, Safety Program
9. Self motivation, positive attitude, good listening and communication skills
