Immediate Opening - Scope:
This position is for an Experienced Fleet Mechanic/Fleet Manager Assistant who has the ability to work independently and to problem solve. Person must show the ability to perform repairs on vehicles, trailers, construction equipment and related maintenance equipment such as mowers, hand mowers, line trimmers, blowers and other maintenance equipment. Must be able to take a proactive approach to parts inventory and be able to maintain a neat and organized shop. In the winter months the candidate must be available for snow plowing operations and must have the ability to trouble shoot and repair snow equipment. The individual must be mature, possess good organization and communication skills, must be detailed orientated and have the ability to get tasks completed in a timely fashion.
Goal: Maintain fleet of vehicles, trailers, & equipment in operational condition at all times while abiding by all state & federal rules & regulations so they operate in a safe condition. Maintain assets resulting in less breakdowns & damages reducing overall costs. Company assets ready & operational for Seasonal transitions for production.
Essential Duties:
Works under the supervision of the Operations Manager and performs unassigned & assigned tasks involved in the maintenance and repair of vehicles, trailers, & equipment.
Trouble shoot ability lights & issues on trailers, trucks.
Repairing and adjustment of all the belts and related parts on the mowers.
Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic pumps and cylinders.
Test and diagnose electrical components with electrical test equipment.
Performs regular PM’s on all maintenance equipment and small construction equipment.
Perform oil changes, change filters, fluids, hoses, spark plugs and chains which will be part of the PM’s.
When called upon may have to make repairs out in the field.
Performs welding tasks when needed.
Maintain inventory levels of any and all parts or supplies needed in shop and daily trash removal.
Maintain organized the tools and parts and maintain a clean and organized shop.
Diagnose and repair snowplow equipment such as sanders, snowplows and blowers.
Have the ability to pick up parts when asked if they cannot be delivered in a timely manner or need to be picked up in an emergency situation.
Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks as needed.
Maintain and organize the yard.
Will be responsible for Vehicle Safety Checklist.
Manage deliveries to shop or yard during your workday.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and use hands to operate objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance.
Employment Prerequisites:
Valid driver’s license & DOT card.
MA Hydraulics license.
Knowledge of small engine repair trucks, trailers, equipment & electrical and the ability to apply knowledge for practical use.
Basic Welding Ability for repairs or assets.
Have the ability to follow instructions and follow through with the instructions.
Ability to operate tools and equipment properly and safely.
Ability to operate noisy equipment for extended periods of time,
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to tolerate weather extremes for extended periods of time.
Reliable, self-motivated, hardworking, goal orientated, and career minded.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Basic computer ability includes Outlook Calendar, email and correspondence.
Ability to manage inventory and maintain clean and safe work area.
This is an hourly position: $27.00 per hour and up depending on experience/qualifications
