The Village at Waterman Lake, named "Best Retirement Community" in the state is seeking a kind, compassionate, patient individual to work with mid to end stage dementia residents in The Atrium, our 30-bed skilled nursing wing, and oversee the Activities Program there. Responsibilities include developing and keeping current personalized Activities Plans for each resident, planning a calendar that takes into account the differing abilities of residents and complies with nursing home regulations; leading one or two group Activities a day in the common area; documenting resident participation and other forms of documentation; conducting one-on-one sensory type Activities with the less active and/or more memory impaired residents. (Sensory activities would involve tasks that stimulate one of the 5 senses and could include anything from hand massages, aromatherapy, reading, music, art appreciation and games, depending on the individual's care plan, needs and preferences.) Also, helping serve breakfast, lunch or dinner to our higher functioning residents in the Atrium dining room. Ideal candidate for this position is someone who has Activities experience and is familiar with the regulations for Activities in a skilled nursing setting. We are looking for someone with a deep affinity for the elderly and someone who is a reliable, self-motivated team player. He or she will be compassionate and personable. Hours are flexible and range from 24-40/week; Would include either day (8-4) or evening (2-7) shifts throughout the week.
