We seek a private home healthcare aide (CNA) to help our parents, who are in their 80's and have dementia. Saturday and Sunday 1:30pm to 8:30pm. $20/hr. They have 24 hour private care and live in their own apartment at Laurelmead. Ideally we would like someone who is flexible and could fill in for other aides on other days or nights from time to time. You must be able to drive them.
Our father is almost 90 and diabetic and at risk for falling and has moderate dementia. He broke his hip 2 months ago and uses a walker. Our mother is 82 and energetic and likes to get out and see things but has Alzheimers and needs constant, gentle guidance and interaction.
Responsibilities include:
Help our father record his blood sugar readings and monitor his insulin injections
Make sure they both take their medications
Drive them (supermarket, CVS, gardens or parks or waterfor short walks)
Take walks with them: in the halls, on the grounds of Laurelmead, and East Side neighborhoods.
Light housekeeping (prepared dinners are delivered to the apartment)
Gentle guidance and reminders so they keep on track and have a good life
Coordinate with other aides
