This position in our men’s shelter calls for a person that is living a Christ centered lifestyle and is capable of seeing this as a call to action versus a typical job. We serve the community with love and respect and this position requires a great deal of patience and persistence. We seek a mature Christian, committed to and passionate about sharing the life-changing gospel and building disciples of Jesus Christ with the broken, needy, homeless, addicted, and mentally ill.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Model servant leadership
Perform administrative tasks, maintain accurate records and manage relevant data timely and accurately
Maintain complete and accurate notes in HMIS/Mission Tracker systems prior to the end of each shift. Close
out files regularly.
Documents pertinent actions, conversations, and events on each guest’s record that facilitates progress
toward goal attainment
Conduct relevant assessments of guests
Interface with the community as appropriate, receiving referrals, on-boarding new guests, and facilitating
exiting guests
Coordinate the integration of social services through advocacy with external service organizations
Promote effective and efficient utilization of local housing, legal, mental health and other agencies to assist
the guest to remove barriers to stabilization
Mobilize resources and connects with guest, as needed, to achieve outlined goals
Determine individual training needs and connect guests to appropriate training for employment and life
skills
Identify suitable job training programs and promote guests, especially regarding resumes and online
applications
Participate in relevant guest Accountability Team Meetings
Disciple, counsel, and provide Biblical accountability with guests
Collaborate with all aspects of the Residential program and the broader LPCM organization
Work in harmony with all team members and especially the Men’s Ministry team
Administer testing as needed to address substance abuse issues
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Tour the facility frequently to ensure security, safety, and cleanliness
Facilitate Emergency Intakes (if brought in by law enforcement) with accuracy
Supervise the administration of over-the-counter medication
Report any facility or maintenance issues promptly
Clean and maintain front lobby area of the facility
Attend team meetings as required
Perform other duties as assigned
Ability and interest in providing biblical counsel and guidance to guests
Able to coach, equip, and develop individuals
Must be trustworthy, conscientious, and accountable
Level-headed, purposeful in reactions, proactive problem solver. Gathers all information before making
decisions and makes decisions accordingly that are sound and in alignment with LPCM mission and values.
Stewardship mindset with regard to time, talents, treasure, and resources
Excellent interpersonal skills, adept at building relationships with individuals and groups of people with a
very wide diversity of demographic and cultural characteristics
Good discernment with regard to people and situations; exercise patience, wisdom, and accountability within
an environment of grace
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of drug and alcohol, mental illness, homeless, and poverty issues
Computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Office software, internet and email
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Relevant experience in social service and ministry with a broad awareness of homelessness, addiction, mental
health, etc.
Bible training preferred, demonstrated spiritual maturity required
Previous Rescue Mission experience desired
