KeyLogic has an immediate need for an "Engineer/Scientist, Carbon Dioxide Transport and Storage", in Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid).

The Engineer/Scientist will support our federal client, the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) in the areas of carbon dioxide transport and storage. The individual will be responsible for conducting comprehensive literature reviews, collaborating with industry partners, and monitoring ongoing and future research, codes, standards, and regulations related to carbon dioxide (CO2 )transportation systems. This role is crucial for supporting the U.S. Department of Energy's Carbon Transport and Storage Program and ensuring timely updates and alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in CO2 transport and storage RD&D efforts and a keen interest in advancing CO2 transportation safety and standards. The ideal candidate will take initiative and has a willingness to work in a flexible, fast-paced environment with other members of our team and directly with the client.

Position Requirements:

U.S. Citizenship

Bachelor's Degree (in Mechanical Engineering or Geology preferred, but will consider other science areas).

Advanced degree is preferred.

2-4 years of professional experience.

Proven experience in project management, preferably in the environmental or energy sector.

Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting and applying engineering principles, theories and concepts related to hydraulic flow, energy efficiency and stress analysis principles.

Familiarity with CO2 transportation systems, detection systems, emergency response protocols, and related environmental and safety regulations.

Position Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough literature reviews on previously completed and ongoing research related to CO2 releases from transportation systems such as pipelines, tanks, pressure vessels, and vents.

Monitor ongoing and future research, codes, standards, and regulations development related to CO2 transportation systems.

Support activities that align with near-term deployment of CO2 pipeline infrastructure, including booster stations, vent stacks, and associated emergency response equipment and protocols.

Attend industry meetings, conferences, and collaborative sessions with project partners.
