Position Objective / Summary:
The Plate Maker / Shipping Department Clerk performs tasks involved in the layout and printing plate production of customer supplied artwork. Our Flexo plate making department maintains mid to large size equipment and handles flat polymer materials up to 42 x 60” in size. We would like to talk to quality minded individuals with good work habits and the ability to meet strict production and shipping deadlines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare finished artwork files for flexographic plate layouts.
Handle movement of film and polymer materials from one machine to the next. Ability to move flat material sizes up to 42” x 60” is a must!
Follows standard operating procedures for machine settings set by department manager.
Verifies quality of polymer plate products, proofs, and files by evaluating spelling, content, and prepress standards with consistency across brands and projects.
Communicate and emphasize care in areas where customer deems critical.
Prepare packages for shipping while attending to special customer requirement.
Performs related duties as needed by supervision.
Essential Job Functions include the following. (These can be learned on the job). Other duties may be assigned:
Working knowledge of the flexographic printing process and its related specifications and limitations; specifically, ink lay down order and trapping, and a working knowledge of step and repeat as it directly relates to cylinder size, in order to accurately layout plates.
Review job tickets for production; plan and process accordingly
Handle multiple jobs in various production stages
Review proofs and artwork from customers and returns to prepress
Analyze customer files for fonts, images, integrity and printability
Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Adhere to quality control procedures.
Performs other duties when assigned.
Offer suggestions on a better way to execute production plan or reduce costs.
Ability to effectively communicate with fellow employees.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: the requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.
Knowledge of color separations, screens, dot gain, and resolution
Working knowledge of computer technology that includes ESKO and Kodak software
The ability to learn and understand new software and other technology applications
Minimum Requirements:

Ability to multi-task and stay organized.
