Since 2005 Penn Asian Senior Services’ work has been focused on improving the lives of frail Asian American immigrants in Pennsylvania, promoting health and wellness, and ending the cycle of social isolation due to language barriers. As part of PASSi’s continued efforts to meet the needs of Asian American seniors during these unprecedented times, PASSi Kitchen Express (PKX) was created. This program provides free freshly prepared, nutritionally balanced, culturally considerate meals for seniors through no-contact delivery and curbside pick-up. Responsibilities:

Supports the day-to-day operations in the PKX Food Program; assisting PKX staff to ensure client meals are properly prepared and delivered to client’s homes.

Assists with kitchen deliveries including proper storage, organization, and rotation of products for PKX program.

Performs frequent supply runs to the local grocery store, restaurant depot, and other related vendors.

Checks food and produce deliveries is properly receipted.

Supports the Head Chef with monthly inventory of produce, meat, and supplies on hand and maintains an inventory system.

Maintain required records including food inventory and meal counts.

Coordinate with Delivery Drivers to schedule timely pick-up and drop-off of client meals.

Provides kitchen with assistance for the next shift by cleaning and restocking kitchen areas and cook stations.

Reports to Head Chef any kitchen accidents or violations of food safety codes and procedures.

Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work.

Work collaboratively with other Evergreen staff members; attend staff meetings and other meetings as requested.

Supporting other staff members by assisting with other tasks, as needed.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

2+ years minimal work experience.

Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.

Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Willingness to comply with all food safety procedures.

Certifications and Licenses

Valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and proof of insurance.

Have completed or have the ability to complete necessary clearances: PA Criminal Background and FBI Fingerprinting.

ServSafe Certification preferred, but not required.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.

Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.

Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.

Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.

Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.

May require the use of ladders.
