The Research Technician provides technical support by performing scientific experiments. Once trained by the PI, will independently handle experiments as part of different projects in the lab, maintains records of data, and may be involved in training graduate and medical students in research methods and procedures.
Responsibilities include cell culture, cell and molecular assays, western blotting, PCR, RT-PCR, DNA/RNA/protein isolation, flow cytometry staining, data analysis, data interpretation, and presentations (which they will be trained on). Willingness to work with mice is desired.
Performs calculations and maintains appropriate log and lab notebooks; performs tasks that require familiarity with fundamental techniques and equipment; assists with drafting specific research protocols and procedures; maintains office, lab area, reagents, supplies, and equipment; cleans and performs routine maintenance on lab equipment; records results, organizes data and maintains lab notebook in an organized manner. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
At least three years of directly related research experience.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively as part of the research team
Demonstrated ability to perform relevant experimental techniques
Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment
Interest in cancer research
Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree
Prior lab experience in Molecular and Cellular Biology, preferably in a metabolism focused lab.
Willingness to work with lab animals (mice)
This position requires a background check.
